Brigadoon

During my Fall semester at Kent State I had the pleasure of playing Fiona in Brigadoon. Brigadoon, the lerner and Lowe musical took place November 5-14 2010 in E. Turner Stump Theatre. Directed by Terri Kent and choreographed by Mary Ann Black. The show had a very successful opening and even participated in the unveiling of the new Roe Green Center for the performing arts. Click here to learn about the Roe Green Center at Kent State University.

The community accepted Brigadoon with open arms and some of the reviews included...

"Henkel-Moellmann singing, 'Waitin' for My Dearie,' has a sweetness of sound that could melt hearts of stone." (Record-Courier)

They're Playing Our Song

Currently I am involved in Weathervane Playhouse's production of They're Playing Our Song as one of sonia's voices. The story is about a wisecracking and successful pop-music composer who meets a slightly zany aspiring lyricist. The story is inspired by the real-life partnership of Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager, They're Playing Our Song celebrates the ups and downs of a musical and romantic coupling. The show runs September 9-26. Click here for tickets

STATE FAIR

The final show at the Huron Playhouse this summer was State Fair, I played Jeanne, a cooch dance. I also acted a dance captain for this production directed by Jim Williams. With my fellow dance captain Stephen Lowen, we met with company members outside of rehearsal and offered extra time in the mornings to do a physical warm up with members. We worked with Emily Cawrse Casale, the choreographer, to make sure everyone was comfortable with all the dancing taught over the course of a week and a half. Please check out some of the movement on facebook page! Click Here

Closing the season, the entire company striked the whole theatre that acts as a gymnasium during the school year. We worked long and hard ending around 4:20 am. I had a wonderful experience at the Huron Playhouse and I will cherish these memories for a long time.

The Importance of Being Ernest

My most recent show at The Huron Playhouse was The Importance of Being Earnest in which I played Cecily Cardew. Directed by Ken McCoy of Deland, I had so much fun working with students from other universities this summer. At Huron Playhouse, I have the opportunity to work other areas like the costume shop on top of performing in shows . For The Importance of Being Earnest ,I had the opportunity to work in the costume shop as an assistant and I was able to learn many new skills on top of doing a wonderful show! You can check out the production photos at http://www.acfreeman.com/ and up next will be State Fair.

The Moldy Lingers On at Huron Playhouse

I just finished The Melody Lingers On at the Huron Playhouse. In the show I was a featured ensemble member with solos in songs like "I got the Sun in the Morning and the Moon at Night" and "Everybodys Doing it Now." The show tells the story of Irving Berlin and his musical career. The show is based off of the biography "Irving Berlin: A Daughter's Memoir." To see a review of the show click on the links below:

This will allow me to be experienced in all aspects of summer theatre operations. We will audition for all shows and hold various production responsibilities. Check out Huron Playhouse on the web!

Backstage at KSU

This semester I have been working backstage with the Kent Dance Ensemble as a gel changer. Some of my duties have been sweeping, mopping the floor to ensure the safety of every dancer and changing gels after every dance piece! I have been backstage in the past as an assistant stage manager for Dancelot Studio's Spring Recital in Cincinnati. Other crew experience includes: The Diviners (Run Crew, Anderson Theatre), Noises Off! (Run Crew, Anderson Theatre), Carousel (House Management, Anderson Theatre), A Midsummer Night's Dream (Costume Crew, Anderson Theatre) and Caucasian Chalk Circle (Wardrobe, KSU).
